Sharla P. Klingel Of Counsel
Ms. Klingel’s practice focuses on nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, including entity formations, applications for tax exemption, registration and ongoing compliance with governmental agencies, and development of governance documents and policies. Ms. Klingel’s experience working with nonprofit organizations includes three years instructing the Nonprofit Clinic at the University of Virginia School of Law. Prior to that, Ms. Klingel was an associate with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in Washington, DC, where she focused on large-scale military housing privatization and commercial real estate transactions.
Ms. Klingel has worked and volunteered in a variety of civic and service agencies, including representing children as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and as a Guardian Ad Litem for children in Virginia. She has served and held leadership roles on numerous nonprofit boards of directors, and currently serves on the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association board of directors.
